Teagan is 4 ½ months old and weighs 2.9 pounds.
Teagan needs spinal surgery so he can walk again, at 2 months of age a very large dog stepped on him; now he has no use of his front and back legs.
If you can make a donation to help pay for the spur on his vertebrae to be moved off of the nerve this little baby may recover. As you can see he has the typical adorable little Yorkie personality..This little guy really has a very strong will to survive and recover, he just needs our help!!!
Below is the report we got on Teagan when his foster Mom took him to the vet.

This email will confirm our converstation this morning, April, 8, 2009. The Yorkie male you presented was unable to walk and was showing signs of muscle mass decrease generally. The history was that the male was injured 2 months ago when stepped on by a Mastiff.
Radiographs were taken of the cervical spinal column. They confirmed that the Atlanto-axial ligament was missing or torn and that the instability between the first two vertebrae of the neck was causing a pinching of the spinal cord. This injury would explain the loss of function of the legs.
Surgery can be attempted to stabilize the two vertebrae. Because of the length of time since the injury I can not be certain of recovery. I mentioned to you that we have a 75% chance of improving function. There is also a risk of injury to the spinal cord during surgery that could further injure the cord or lead to death. While this is not likely, you should know that the surgery is not without risk.
If surgery is performed, the sooner it is done the better. As we discussed, keeping him protected from other dogs is essential during this time.

UPDATE 4/23/09
It was a week ago yesterday since his surgery and he is now standing to eat and drink. He suffered a lot of muscle loss so he needs to rebuild that but we are very encouraged by his progress so far.
Thanks for keeping him in your prayers. The little fellow has a strong will to heal himself.
UPDATE 5-6-09
From Teagan's foster Mom....
May 6, 2009 Teagan Up Date
21 days after surgery.
As you know Teagan has had to be crate confined since his surgery for healing, (except to potty and eat.)
Today Teagan went back to the surgeon for a progress check. The surgeon was very pleased with how Teagan is progressing, from what he was before the surgery, to how he is doing now is truly amazing.
Prior to surgery Teagan could only lie on his side and kick his feet, he could not sit up without being propped. Now Teagan can lie like a normal puppy, he can stand and walk a very short distance. Teagan could not wag his tail before surgery;he is now wagging his tail with glee.
Teagan’s intensive therapy begins today.
WHOPPY, doing the happy dog dance TEAGAN IS OUT OF JAIL. :woof::woof::woof:
He still has to be constantly supervised while he is not in his crate. His leg muscles are still very weak because he has been unable to use them for approximately 3 months......the therapy will enable his legs to get stronger every day.....
Teagan thanks everyone for all your support and prayers, he loves you all and sends kisses.

Teagan UPDATE 5-25-09
Everyone I am so sorry I have not given an update before now, just unbelievably busy. I took Teagan to Dr. Lee May 20th. Dr Lee is so amazed with Teagan’s rehabilitation. The Therapy is working; he still has a long road to recovery.
Teagan is now doing many puppy things he could not before such as: If he has an itch he can scratch the itch, he is rolling in the grass like most dogs love to do. He wants to play with all my Yorkies, he just gets so excited he is beyond himself. He doesn’t know who he wants to play with first. My Yorkies have been very good with him it is like they know something is not right. He is such a joy to watch just being Teagan, his personality is really beginning to shine. By the way the tail is wagging and wagging now he can wag the tail as fast as any other dog.
Along with water therapy and exercises Teagan and I are walking around my house about 4 times a day. On the way back he gets pretty tried and I pick him up and tell him how wonderful he is and how I love him, he really eats this up. Lays his little head in the crook of my neck and just nuzzles me. I think he just wants me to pick him up for the lov’n. His little legs continue to get stronger. He has been walking and trying to run for two weeks. When he runs it is like his mind is faster than his legs, he doesn’t have running down pat as yet. He is just a cutie and I can not tell you how happy I am that he came into my life.
I know everyone wants to see pictures of Teagan soon as I can get a decent picture I will post it on his page. He doesn’t want to cooperate and stand still long enough to have his picture taken. When he is out walking it is like he is on a mission.
Teagan wants everyone to know how much he loves you and thanks you all for you love and support.
Teagan sends wet kisses to everyone.
